Aziz went to Ridley College and later joined the University of Western Ontario where he majored in economics. After graduating, James Aziz joined Affiliated Foods, his family wholesale food business. During this period, Affiliated Foods grew significantly to become a global importer of fresh foods from South America, Europe, and Central. The company also made distributions to various fresh foods stores in Eastern Canada and US.


Gregory James Aziz worked on a number of investment ventures before acquiring National Steel Car. His has since transformed the company into one of the industry leaders globally. Just within the first five years of its acquisition, National Steel had increased its annual car production and employee number from 3,500 to 12,000 and 600 to around 3,000 respectively. Thanks to the extensive investment in human and capital resources, teamwork and strong engineering competence; National Steel Car obtained these achievements.


Under the leadership of Gregory J Aziz, National Steel Car is currently one of the leading companies in modern car innovations. It also builds numerous new railroad freight cars and tanks every year. The company is the region’s only certified ISO 9001:2008 in this industry sub-sector; an honor that it has retained for about two decades now. National Steel Car’s quality products have also seen the company receive the TTX SECO highest quality award consecutively over the last 20 years.


Greg Aziz’s company currently sponsors several community projects and local charities, including United Way, Theatre Aquarius, the Salvation Army and the Hamilton Opera. The company also has an annual event, National Christmas Party, where employees are invited to take part in a food drive initiative meant to benefit the local community.


As a result of National Steel Car’s pursuit of excellence and creation of products that meet clients’ needs, the company has gained trust from several of its clients. The firm was recently chosen by Canpotex to create new railcars needed to ship Saskatchewan potash. Speaking on behalf of National Steel Car team, Gregory J Aziz said that his firm is proud of the strong relationship between the two companies. He further expressed their gratitude for Canpotex’s continued trust on National Steel Car. According to Aziz, Canpotex’s order will provide employment to more than 400 staff for around 7 months. He added that the deal would also present significant advantages to the local area at large.
